Ron Freund papers on nuclear free zones, 1986-1990.

Correspondence, clippings, reports, publications, and research notes related to Ron Freund's work for a nuclear weapon-free Chicago. Freund was part of a movement of religious organizations working to make Chicago a nuclear weapon-free zone (NWFZ). The collection documents Freund's work with various groups. Included is research on how other cities created and structured NWFZs, articles, clippings, and notes. Also included are meeting minutes and other official correspondence with the Chicago Peace Conversion Commission, to which Freund was appointed by Harold Washington in 1987. The collection also includes various publications documenting work in Chicago and around the nation to promote economic conversion from a military industry to a peace industry. Also present are three binders of collected information from the group Illinois SANE/FREEZE, including minutes. Box 1: publications, clippings, research. Box 2: correspondence, minutes.
